Sports Day 2007

Sports day last sat was great fun!! Definitely the best among the rest (??) coz it seemed more organized this year...

I joined badminton (singles) and cheerleading. The former was actually held days before the actual sports day... it was real tiring man... i had to attend for 3 days... it was all held at the dewan bandaran hall... which is in town, which is just a stone throw's away from school... so yeah... jalan-jalan here and there... i first went on tuesday and after waiting for almost the whole afternoon and watching all the senior boys playing, the senior girls were informed to come back the next day coz it was almost evening... drat! Wasted afternoon. I did play the next day... against Wani... and to tell you the truth it sucked... even though i won 21 - 6, we dint really enjoy the game mainly coz we weren't used to all the badminton rules... such as about who's turn it is to serve, whether you should stand at the left or right side of the court according to your score, be it even or odd, and blah-di-blah di blah! Anyways... on thursday, i found it funny for me playing against another Hannah for two reasons:-
1) When the crowd would cheer, "Go0o HANNAH!!" lol get the humour there? It's like you'd think, which Hannah?!?
2) We basically belong to the same team/house, hellooo! Hehe but i guess whoever's the best would represent green house in the semi-finals/finals... it turned out to be the other Hannah, she's good! So we're cool.

This is Fairuzah's cute lil hamster!! n_n

In a nutshell, I guess I'm more of an "amateur" badminton player as you'd say... apparently when I play it with friends, we're more concerned on keeping the shuttlecock up and flying in the air, whereas when you're competing against one another, the rule of thumb is to NOT let the shuttlecock land on your side... bleh... playing it for fun i wouldn't care who's turn it is to serve... you just pick up and serve whenever the shuttlecock is nearest to you.

Moving on.... cheer-cheerleading! Gosh man, we were really last minute. I think if you'd add up our days of practice, it was only 3 days. A week before Sports Day we practiced over at Jezrehl's mom's dance studio... where one of her teachers (teacher Nestor) choreographed the steps for us... hehe it was really "cheerleady" i guess, having recognized it from the movie "Bring it On"... anyway the next few days later we didn't practice when we were supposed to, apparently Rara wanted to change the steps... but at the end we followed through with teacher Nestor's choreography anyway... during the Sports Week (5 days before Sports Day) i was heavily anxious and almost pissed at the fact that we didn't practice... mann... i told God about it and confessed that, because this would be my last year in Brunei, I wanted to make the most of it, including Sports Day which i wanted to be a success and not a suck-up, concerning the progress my houseteam was doing at cheerleading. But ALAS.... we practiced friday afternoon - the day before Sports Day and yes! We completed the whole routine. Then at nighttime we came back to the studio to work on our cheer and intro.

Hehe we had the studio to ourselves, coz Jezrehl's mom drove teacher Nestor to the airport - he was leaving for Philippines that night! So we watched some parts of Bring it On 1 and 3... finally deciding on the intro of Bring it On 1... that cheeky cheer, if you've seen the movie. There was some profanity on so we didn't chant it... incidentally, the sound/volume quality of the music really sucked, i mean there were no speakers/amplifiers around the stadium where we cheered - it was a microphone-to-radio-speaker thing... so yeah. At least the judges wouldn't hear the supposedly-censored words.

The day - Sports Day!
I basically didn't hang around the track where the athletics were bein held coz I was busy making my pom-poms with the other girls and practicing our cheers. For our costume we wore lime-green (which looked cute - i loved it!) around our waists but later tied it as bandana tops since the Yellow house were also wearing cloths around their waist.
The cheerdance competition was scheduled the last event of the day - that is to keep the students/people/audience in the sports complex in til the end since cheerleading's the highlight of Sports Day.... lol clever idea.
Up first was Blue house - moving to the beats of Akon's Smack That. Then it was us~~ GREEEN! It was funn! Next was Yellow house followed by Red house.

Then finally... the moment we've all been waiting for... the RESULTS MAN!! I don't remember 'bout the other houses but GREEN HOUSE achieved 2 gold and 1 silver! The silver was for our cheerleading, and even though we got 2nd we we're definitely ecstatic, it was cool coz after all the anxiety we still felt we had gotten 1st place. Red did a good job though! They got 1st, Yellow got 3rd, whilst Blue got last.

But that wasn't all.... as teacher Rodman announced the OVERALL CHAMPION of Sports Day 2007....

BLUE - 4th place
RED - 3rd place

So it was between GREEN and YELLOW houses...

Teacher Rodman was like, "Ok, so I'll announce which house got 2nd, so then you'll already know which house gets 1st..."

One could sense everyone holding their breaths as he did.

"2nd runner-up is.... YELLOW HOUSE!"

GREEN HOUSE SCREAMED THEIR LUNGS OUT IN ENTHUSIASM.

We were the overall champions, man! And really... i dint expect it. It's like, you first felt your house was stagnant, when it fact it was taking the lead!
Yay... we beat yellow house - by 10 points! Whew! That was a close call!

So yeah... that's it. Sports Day ended around 1.30pm. Went home with teacher Shula, makan-ed at her house; then later went to yoof fellowship at 4.30pm, when I was supposed to go to dear lil KC's solo recital in Expression again... but sadly no transport =( Dang, i wanted to go badly. Was so tired during yoof, we were watching a video on romantic relationships, but my head was literally bobbing up and down from drowsiness... i had to slap myself on the face. I was finally wide awake after the video finished and we did the discussions, which was really eye-opening!

If you love something/someone, let it free.
If it comes back, then it's yours
If it doesn't, then it isn't yours / it was never meant to be.

I already knew that quote from before, and believe me it's true. It's not the end of the world if a person of the opposite sex rejects you, so what, there are other fish in the water! Oh and also, ever seen movies where the girls are pushy and it seemed as if the guy was drifting farther apart? Apparently, that's where the above quote comes in. And guys should be the one after the girl, not vice versa... coz it's just not that way.

...that was some of what we discussed. Cool stuff ;)
All my praise and thanks go to You my Saviour, God and King!! Thanks for being with me and living in me... <3

MOVE, GIVE WAY. GREEEEN HOUSE IS ON THA WAY!!
